Pomegranate, fig, persimmon and pear slowly ripen on the studio plate as I paint daily variations on a theme. These small paintings enliven my appetite without eating. They sustain a simple pleasure of harvesting fruits, herbs and vegetables in our gardens or selecting specialties at the local market which have a personal appeal. I desire a new vanitas imagery which embraces and invites a visual indulgence without implied need for repentance.
